Morphine effect is potentiated by Prostigmin when pressure-pain responses in the cat are determined. 2. Atropine antagonizes the effect of morphine or of a morphine-Prostigmin combination. 3. Evidence is presented to show that morphine fits many of the postulates necessary for a cholinergic drug. 4. Statistical analyses as to probability ("P") correlate well with result averages. 5. The mechanism of morphine action as an acetylcholine-like drug is discussed. 6. Practical application of these results is suggested.
