The substances used were—Germanin, Neoarsphenamine, and the azo dyes chlorazol fast pink BKS, chlorazol sky blue FFS, and the special dye S.D.2. 3. The dyes have a trypanocidal action, the most active being the isomers of afridol violet. Of these chlorazol fast pink BKS when given subcutaneously appears to be only slightly less active than Germanin but it has relatively high toxicity.
