Subcutaneous injections of nicotine lower the voluntary activity of the albino rat. 2. Cessation of the nicotine injections causes an immediate increase in the voluntary activity. 3. Chronic nicotinization does not affect the oestrus cycle as manifested by the voluntary activity. 4. Nicotinization does not appreciably affect the weight curve in the albino rats. 5. Chronic nicotinization decreases the fat content and increases the moisture content in rats. The ash and nitrogen contents are unaffected. 6. Nicotine injections do not affect the ash and nitrogen content. 7. On the dry basis the nicotinized rats also showed less fat.
