This decrease is prolonged and the preinjection level is not attained until about one and a half hours have elapsed. When pitressin is inactivated with alkali, no effect on the blood flow is observed. The oxytocic fraction also has no significant effect. The pressor fraction produces similar effects on the blood flow in the femoral artery of a sympathectomized and an adrenalectomized dog.
