TY - JOUR T1 - THE EFFECT OF PATHOLOGIC STATES ON THE MINIMUM LETHAL DOSE OF PROCAINE INTRACISTERNALLY JF - Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics JO - J Pharmacol Exp Ther SP - 51 LP - 60 VL - 50 IS - 1 AU - FRANK WANG COTUI Y1 - 1934/01/01 UR - http://jpet.aspetjournals.org/content/50/1/51.abstract N2 - 1. The effect of different pathologic states on the minimum lethal dose of procaine hydrochloride injected into the cisterna magna was studied on dogs. 2. Pneumonia, marked post-operative infection and certain hypotensive states produced by hemorrhage, amyl nitrite, and histamine all reduced the lethal dose of procaine sufficient to cause paralysis of the respiratory center. 3. The probability of a relationship between anoxia and this reduction of the lethal dose of procaine is pointed out. ER -
