A method is described by which measures of toxicity, relative toxicity, and rate of destruction of local anesthetics can be obtained following slow intravenous infusion into cats. Figures for the relative toxicities of common local anesthetics are given, and some of the applications of these experiments to the clinical use of these drugs are discussed. 2. A fair indication of the relative efficiencies of local anesthetics can be obtained in terms of their relative efficacies (ratios of concentrations which achieve adequate anesthesia for any purpose) and relative toxicities.}, issn = {0022-3565}, URL = {https://jpet.aspetjournals.org/content/44/3/359}, eprint = {https://jpet.aspetjournals.org/content/44/3/359.full.pdf}, journal = {Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics} }
