This method is more rapid, simpler and more reproducible than previous ones. 2. The effects of seasonal variations of frogs on anesthesia time is discussed, and some suggestive results are given for the anethesia of the sciatic nerves of laboratory-starved winter frogs. 3. Modifications are suggested for the determination of anesthesia times on the rabbit's cornea and the accuracy of results is discussed. 4. A long-lasting increase in the resistance of the rabbit's cornea to anesthetization by cocaine solutions after their frequent instillation has been described. 5. The advantages of the acceptance of a standard and reproducible technique of testing local anesthetics has been stressed.
