A NOTE ON THE RHYTHMIC CONTRACTIONS OF THE URETER AS INFLUENCED BY PITUITARY EXTRACT AND BY HISTAMINE JF - Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics JO - J Pharmacol Exp Ther SP - 203 LP - 207 VL - 34 IS - 2 AU - CHARLES M. GRUBER Y1 - 1928/10/01 UR - http://jpet.aspetjournals.org/content/34/2/203.abstract N2 - 1. Pituitary extract and histamine phosphate in dilute solutions stimulate the smooth longitudinal muscle of the ureter. In more concentrated form they caused either a slowed rate of contraction or a complete cessation of contraction. 2. The stimulating power of histamine phosphate is greater than that of pituitary extract. 3. Tissues inhibited by pituitary extract and sodium phenobarbital can be aroused into activity by histamine. 4. Histamine phosphate increases the general tonus of the ureter. ER -
