N-desisopropylpropranolol, 1-(α-naphthoxy)-2,3-propyleneglycol, ring hydroxylated 1-(α-naphthoxy)-2, 3-propyleneglycol, α-naphthoxyacetic acid, α-naphthol and 1,4-dihydroxynaphthalene were identified in urine as were unchanged propranolol and the earlier reported metabolites 4-hydroxypropranolol and naphthoxylactic acid. There were no qualitative differences between the patients and dogs. Several of these metabolites have pharmacological activity which may contribute to the diverse effects of propranolol in man. © 1972, by The Williams & Wilkins Company
