Krebs-bicarbonate solution was perfused at a rate of about 7 ml/min at 35°C. Perfusion of the normal or phenoxybenzamine-treated spleens with Krebs' solution at pH 6.2 to 6.4 for 30 minutes reduced the NE output by about 50 to 60%. Initial perfusion of the spleen with low pH Krebs' solution containing 10 mM Ca++ prevented the inhibitory effects of low pH, although perfusion with the same solution after first establishing the pH effect was much less effective. Tetraethylammonium (1 mM) did not antagonize the inhibitory effects of low pH on releas. © 1971, by The Williams & Wilkins Company ER -
