The nonsedative compounds methoserpidine, reserpic acid and methyl reserpate were not active, but reserpine, syrosingopine and tetrabenazine decreased the ATP/ADP ratio—an effect due to a fall in ATP and an increase in ADP values. Although deserpidine caused reserpine-like sedation, it did not produce a statistically significant fall in ATP. Some correlation between the changes in ATP levels and the time course of reserpine-sedation was found in rats. ER -
