AB  - An isolated preparation of the distal 5 mm of the pulmonary artery of the rabbit and its sympathetic nerve supply has been developed. It responds to indirect (nerve) and direct electrical stimulation. The indirect, but not the direct, response is potentiated by cocaine and pretreatment with l-norepinephrine, and blocked by reserpine and yohimbine. Hexamethonium and atropine are without effect on the ratio of indirect to direct responses. The efferent nerve supply is probably postganglionic sympathetic in nature.
