Reserpine was found to increase the sensitivity of the ileum to the following catecholamines: epinephrine, norepinephrine and isoproterenol. The sensitivity to ephedrine was unchanged, while the sensitivity to tyramine was greatly reduced. These results are discussed in relation to the mechanism of action of ephedrine anmd tyramine and in relation to time sensitivity of other organs to various sympathomimetics following denervation and reserpine pretreatment.
