The Nirvanol so produced has been isolated from urine and determined analytically in plasma. In the Nirvanol isolated from urine there was a preponderance of the levorotatory isomer. Evidence is presented that the course of the double demethylation is an initial rapid removal of the methyl group in the 1-position followed by a much slower removal of the methyl group in the 3-position.
