It was found that the insulin activity in plasma increased to about 10 times the normal control value 6 hours after the commencement of the mesoxalate infusion. Previously, the authors have put forth the suggestion that the antidiabetic effect of mesoxalate might be attributed to the action of this drug to induce hyperinsulinemia. This suggestion has now been fully corroborated in the present experiments by direct evidence.
