RT Journal Article SR Electronic T1 THE RENAL TUBULAR EXCRETION OF CHOLINE AND THIAMINE IN THE CHICKEN JF Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics JO J Pharmacol Exp Ther FD American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics SP 449 OP 456 VO 122 IS 4 A1 Barbara R. Rennick YR 1958 UL http://jpet.aspetjournals.org/content/122/4/449.abstract AB The naturally occurring quaternary ammoniumn compounds choline and thiamine are excreted by the renal tubules in the hen. Hexamethonium, a bisquaternary ammonium compound, is also excreted by the renal tubules. A cyanine dye (# 863) is capable of inhibiting both choline and thiamine transport. The relative rates of transport of the substances reported here in decreasing order are: tetraethylammonium, thiamine, choline and hexamethonium.
