TY - JOUR T1 - THE INHIBITORY ACTION OF NALORPHINE ON THE ENZYMATIC N-DEMETHYLATION OF NARCOTIC DRUGS JF - Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics JO - J Pharmacol Exp Ther SP - 107 LP - 112 VL - 121 IS - 1 AU - Julius Axelrod AU - Joseph Cochin Y1 - 1957/09/01 UR - http://jpet.aspetjournals.org/content/121/1/107.abstract N2 - Nalorphine and its analogues inhibit the N-demethylation of morphine and other narcotic drugs in rat-liver microsomal preparations. N-substituted normorphine derivatives with a 3-carbon chain linked to the nitrogen atom are the most potent inhibitors. Nalorphine is dealkylated to normorphine by enzymes in the rat liver microsomes and soluble supernatant fraction, which require triphosphopyridine nucleotide. ER -
