YR 1957 UL http://jpet.aspetjournals.org/content/119/3/418.abstract AB A sulfoxide metabolite of G-25671, a thio analogue of phenylbutazone, has been isolated from the urine of human subjects receiving the drug. The sulfoxide has a potent uricosuric effect and may account for all the activity observed with the parent drug. The possible usefulness of the sulfoxide as a therapeutic agent in the treatment of chronic gouty arthritis is discussed.
