Comparative standards were established by use of chlorpromazine, reserpine and meprobamate. NC 1318, 1428, 1457, 1540 and 1541, a group of new hemiacetals, all proved effective antagonists of audiogenic seizures in mice. Of these, the most potent was NC 1457; chemically, (2,2,2-trichloro-1-[1-ethyl-1-methyl-(2-propyne-1-oxy)] ethanol). ER -
