The carbamates derived from 3-o-toloxy-1,2-propanediol and 1-o-toloxy-2-propanol possessed greater paralyzing activity than the parent compounds while the carbamate derived from 3-o-toloxy-1-propanol had weaker activity than the parent compound. The carbamate ester of 3-o-toloxy-1-isopropoxy-2-propanol also had weaker paralyzing action than the parent compound. None of the compounds produced paralysis of significantly longer duration than mephenesin. The acute toxicity of all the carbamate derivatives tested was similar or of a lower order than that of the corresponding parent compounds. The anticonvulsant activity of the carbamate derivatives appears to be greater in intensity hut equally short in duration as that of the parent compounds.
