AB  - The effects of Flaxedil were compared in unanesthetized man to those of other curarizing agents: 1. Flaxedil (cation) has 25 to 27 per cent of the potency of dTC (cation) as measured by effects on grip strength. 2. The duration of action of Flaxedil is significantly shorter than that of equipotent doses of dTC. 3. Flaxedil depresses the respiration to the same degree as dTC in equipotent doses. 4. With Flaxedil, as with the other curarizing agents studied, the paralysis of respiratory and of peripheral muscles progresses at the same rate, although thresholds differ between these muscle groups. 5. Blood pressure and heart rate increases moderately after the administration of Flaxedil. 6. Repeated administration of Flaxedil produces cumulative effects similar to those observed with dTC and dimdTC. 7. The action of Flaxedil in man and in animals resembles more closely that of the natural alkaloids studied than the action of C10.
