ON THE DETERMINATION OF THE TOXICITY OF NEOARSPHENAMINE II. THE DETERMINATION OF THE CHARACTERISTIC CURVE FOR RATS
Abstract
1. A characteristic curve for the toxicity of neoarsphenamine for rats has been constructed.
2. The individual variations in one colony of rats to neoarsphenamine has been found to be 211 per cent.
3. The colony was found to undergo variations in its resistance to the drug from time to time.
4. Some comparisons have been made between the curve described in this paper and one constructed by Durham, Gaddum, and Marchal for mice.
5. The method proposed by Durham, Gaddum, and Marchal for rejecting unduly toxic samples of neoarsphenamine is unsatisfactory when applied to rats, owing to the colony variations observed with rats.
