Abstract
1. An increased lactic acid concentration is demonstrated in certain frog muscles in contractures induced by acetylcholine.
2. Contractures caused by HCl are accompanied by an increased lactic acid content.
3. After treatment with iodo-acetic acid, muscles placed in caffeine or KCl will exhibit tensions and increased 02 consumption equal to normal muscles, but without an increase in lactic concentration.
