Together with ASPET, HighWire Press of Palo Alto has created a customized, on-line manuscript tracking program. Beginning January 1, 2002, JPET will accept on-line submissions using this system. This service will be available for other ASPET journals in the coming weeks. The electronic submission site for JPET may be accessed at http://jpet.aspetjournals.org.
In designing this system, every effort was made to simplify procedures for contributors, editors, and reviewers. Manuscripts may be prepared using conventional word-processing software, after which they will be automatically converted to a PDF file, or can be directly submitted as a PDF. Processing of all on-line submissions, as well as communications with authors and editors, will be entirely electronic, which should reduce considerably the time necessary for review and a final editorial decision. Confidentiality is ensured by requiring password entry to submissions, limiting access to the editorial office, the assigned associate editor, and reviewers.
For the time being, the JPET office will consider manuscripts either sent by mail or electronically. Eventually, on-line submission will be mandatory. Please don't hesitate to contact Ms. Lynn LeCount (E-mail:; telephone: 1–913-588–7533), Managing Editor of JPET, if you have questions or encounter problems with the on-line submission process.
Together with HighWire Press, the JPET office and ASPET staff have expended considerable time and effort in constructing this system. We are confident it will improve service to our contributors, subscribers, editors, and reviewers. Thank you for your support and cooperation as we make this transition.
