Abstract
1. The maximum tolerated and minimum lethal doses of mercuric salicylate in fatty suspension administered intramuscularly to rabbits are 30 mgm. per kilogram and 40 mgm. per kilogram, respectively.
2. The maximum tolerated and minimum lethal doses of the same drug in aqueous suspension given intramuscularly to rabbits are 40 mgm. per kilogram and 50 mgm. per kilogram, respectively.
3. The somewhat greater toxicity of mercuric salicylate in fatty suspension administered intramuscularly to rabbits is probably due to the more rapid absorption of the drug when given in the fatty suspension than when given in the aqueous suspension.
