Abstract
The dissociation constants for the drug-receptor reaction between muscarinic receptors and piocarpine or n-C7H15N†(CH3)3, have been measured in the smooth muscle of guinea-pig ileum. The measurements were obtained from a comparison of the dose-response curves to these partial agonists with the doseresponse curve to a strong agonist, carbachol. The results were compared with those obtained with the use of an irreversible competitive blocking agent. Both approaches gave similar values.
