Abstract
The natruretic action of SKF 525-A in the dog has been studied during maximal natruresis produced by a variety of mechanisms. Infusion of SKF 525-A into the renal artery produced a significant natruretic response during the maximal natruresis produced by chlormerodrin, hydrochlorothiazide, acetazolamide, ethacrynic acid and the pteridine Wy-3654. This would suggest that SKF 525-A inhibits renal sodium transport in a different manner than do these agents.
Demonstration of a significant natruretic response to SKF 525-A in chronically adrenalectomized dogs indicates that the primary action of this compound is not inhibition of aldosterone.
