Abstract
Benzoquinone-induced writhing can be inhibited by analgesic (meperidine) and nonanalgesic drugs (amphetamine, carbinoxamine) in both isolated and aggregated mice. There was significantly more inhibition of writhing by analgesic and nonanalgesic drugs in aggregated mice. Inhibition of writhing by electric shock or drugs was not counteracted by administration of adrenergic blocking drugs.
