Abstract
The antihistaminics, Benadryl and Diatrin, sensitize peripheral organs to epinephrine as well as to sympathetic stimulation. In addition, these agents inhibit amine oxidase activity.
The antihistaminic, Anergen, does not inhibit amine oxidase and its effects on effector sites responding to epinephrine and sympathetic stimulation are variable.
