1. Comparative experimental findings with selected and uniform procedures are presented for a series of antihistaminic compounds. These procedures include protection against histamine intravenously, inhibition of anaphylactic shock, inhibition of bronchospasm from histamine aerosol and the effect of an aerosol of the antihistaminic drug in preventing histamine aerosol bronchospasm.
2. The results indicate that there is a general but not absolutely quantitative agreement obtained by the various methods, i.e. a drug which affords protection against histamine shock will also protect against anaphylactic shock at approximately the same dose level.
