Concurrent administration of chlorguanide and sulfadiazine was examined for prophylactic and suppressive activity against Plasmodium gallinaceum infections in the chick. It was found that the two drugs potentiate one another. The effective dose of chlorguanide could be reduced to one-quarter when combined with 1/32 to 1/64 the effective dose of sulfadiazine. The potentiation could not be accounted for by the concentrations of the drugs in the blood. The toxicity of the two drugs in combination was additive.
