1 From the Abbott Laboratories, North Chicago, Illinois
Tolerance formation to usually fatal amounts of gold sodium thiosulphate in rats can be developed by the repeated intramuscular injection of doses ranging from 20 to 35 mgm./kgm.
The mechanism of the tolerance formation is related to the development of a resistance of the epithelial cells of the tubules of the kidney to the damaging effects of the gold salt.
