THE METABOLIC FATE OF 1-METHYL-5-ALLYL-5-ISO-PROPYL BARBITURIC ACID (NARCONUMAL)

THOMAS C. BUTLER 1 and MILTON T. BUSH 1

1 From the Department of Pharmacology, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, Tennessee

Dose-duration studies in mice and excretion studies in dogs indicate that most of the narconumal administered is not demethylated.

These excretion studies show that practically no narconumal is excreted unchanged, and that up to 2 per cent is excreted in the form of alurate.
