III. THE TOXIC ACTIONS OF SODIUM DIPHENYL HYDANTOINATE (DILANTIN) WHEN INJECTED INTRAPERITONEALLY AND INTRAVENOUSLY IN EXPERIMENTAL ANIMALS

1. The train of symptoms following the administration of sodium diphenyl-hydantoinate is described.

2. The intraperitoneal LD50 dose for sodium diphenyl-hydantoinate in white mice is 200 mgm. per kilogram. The CD50 dose is 76 mgm. per kilogram.

3. The intraperitoneal LD50 dose for albino rats is 280 mgm. per kilogram.

4. In rabbits the intravenous LD50 dose is 125 mgm. per kilogram body weight and the CD50 dose is 41 mgm. per kilogram.

5. In dogs the intravenous CD50 dose is 32 mgm. per kilogram body weight. The LD50 dose is about 90 mgm. per kilogram.
