From the pressor hormone of the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland arginine has been isolated as the flavianate and proline as the reineckate. A hydantoin indicating the presence of isoleucine and another indicating the presence of cystine was isolated. Cystine and tyrosine crystals were also seen. Histidine, hydroxyproline and glycine were shown to be absent and tryptophane is present only in traces if present at all.
The oxytocic hormone appears to contain leucine instead of isoleucine; otherwise the constituent amino acids are the same as those of the pressor hormone.
