'-CYCLOHEXENYL-5-METHYL-BARBITURIC ACID (EVIPAN, EVIPAL)
1 From the Surgical Laboratories of the Harvard Medical School at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts
Three dogs have been subjected to repeated "evipal" anesthesia, one at weekly intervals, one at two-weekly intervals and another at four-weekly intervals, all over a five-month period. Detailed studies of the erythrocyte count, the cell volume, the mean corpuscular volume, the hemoglobin and the oxygen capacity do not reveal any anemia producing effect of "evipal" in these dogs. This is contrary to other published accounts.
