Tetrahydrofurane has been tested as an anesthetic agent on mice and dogs and found to produce many toxic manifestations. Anesthesia was marked by delayed induction and recovery, poor relaxation, a marked fall in blood pressure, strong respiratory stimulation and a very small margin of safety.
