THE RELATIVE ANESTHETIC EFFECTS OF SOME UREA DERIVATIVES

EDWIN J. DEBEER 1 and AXEL M. HJORT 1

1 From the Burroughs Wellcome and Company, U. S. A., Experimental Research Laboratories, Tuckahoe, N. Y.

1. Two series of alkarylureas and one of malonylureas were tested for their toxicities and anesthetic effects in albino mice.

2. The position of the methoxy groups in these series, in general, had no consistent effects upon the physiological properties.

3. Some simple ureas are effective anesthetics in doses consistent with safety to the treated animals.
