1. An attempt has been made to determine the vasopressin content of cerebrospinal fluids taken before and after insulin administration from unanesthetized dogs, using the sensitive ileum of the guinea pig as test object. No appreciable amount was detected.
2. Insulin, urea, and novasurol administration failed to increase the oxytocic effect of the cerebrospinal fluids of dogs.
3. The behavior of the isolated guinea pig ileum toward different doses of vasopressin and in different bath fluids is described.
