THE LOCAL ANESTHETIC ACTION OF p-AMINOBENZOATES OF DIETHYLAMINO-ETHOXY ALCOHOLS

The local anesthetic action of compounds of the general formula

has been studied. It was found that where n = 1 the compound has low toxicity and high anesthetizing power. The introduction of the ether linkage in the side chain enables the molecule to cause surface anesthesia as well as injection anesthesia. The higher homologues (n = 2, 3, 4) are too irritating for use.
