1. After giving hexylresorcinol in 1-gram doses to dogs by mouth an average of 29 per cent was recovered from the urine and 67 per cent from the feces.
2. Upon increasing the size of the dose the amount excreted in the urine increases but not in proportion to the dose.
3. The hexylresorcinol excreted in the urine is mainly in a conjugated state (about 95 per cent).
4. The hexylresorcinol in the feces is in a free state.
5. Hexylresorcinol is not present in the tissues, after a large dose, in concentrations high enough to give positive tests by the method used.
6. When given with olive oil or followed by paraffin oil the excretion of hexylresorcinol in the urine is reduced (17 per cent of a 1-gram dose).
7. Heptylresorcinol is absorbed to a slight extent only, 1 per cent being excreted in the urine while 96 pen cent is excreted in the feces.
