PHARMACOLOGICAL NOTE ON CARBO LIGNI AND CARBO ANIMALIS

1. Carbo animalis and Carbo ligni contain, respectively, minute quantities of certain bodies which enable us to differentiate between the two forms of charcoal by special, delicate biological tests.

2. This fact should be borne in mind when using pulverized charcoal for filtering solutions of highly potent pharmacological agents.
