Polymers of butylene glycol R(C4H8O)xC4H8R, where R is NH(CH2)2NH(CH2)2NH2 or N+(CH3)2(CH2)2N+-(CH3)2(CH2)2N+(CH3)3, are about as active as d-tubocurarine (d-TC) and, except for lack of effective antagonism by edrophonium, qualitatively similar to d-TC as well as to similar polymers of propylene glycol. Both classes of compounds are effective orally and cutaneously.
