Ouabain-H3 was administered intravenously to a number of human subjects. Ouabain disappeared from plasma at a rate which suggested processes with half-lives of approximately 3 minutes and 5 hours. Ouabain-H3 was excreted primarily in urine, with biliary excretion being of much less importance. Ousbain was excreted primarily in unchanged formevidence for the presence of ouabain metabolites was not obtained. Coronary arteriovenous difference of ouabain-H3 was present only for the first4 minutes following administration. A period of extracorporeal circulation did not regularly extract ouabain from heart tissue.
