Arthur S. Keats 1, Jane Telford 1, and Yoshio Kurosu 1

1 Division of Anesthesiology, Baylor University College of Medicine, and Jefferson Davis Hospital, Houston, Texas

1. There is an error in the paper by Arthur S. Keats, Jane Telford and Yoshio Kurosu, entitled "Studies of Analgesic Drugs: III. Dextromoramide and a Comparison of Methods of Estimating Pain Relief in Man," Vol. 130, No. 2 (October), 1960. On pages 212 and 217 the chemical name of dextromoramide appears incorrectly as dl-(3-methyl-4-morpholino-2,2-diphenylbutyryl)pyrrolidine. The correct name is d-1-(3-methyl-4-morpholino-2,2-diphenylbutyryl)pyrrolidine, indicating that the drug is a dextro isomer. One author (A.S.K.) has pointed out that the racemic compound (not used in this study) has only half the activity of the dextro isomer, dextromoramide.
