KINETICS OF SULFISOXAZOLE ACETYLATION AND EXCRETION IN HUMANS

The kinetic constants defining the rate of acetylation of sulfisoxazole, the rate of elimination of acetylsulfisoxazole and the rate of elimination of unchanged sulfisoxazole following the oral ingestion of this drug were calculated by following the excretion of this drug in the free and acetylated form. Experimental values were in excellent agreement with theoretical values calculated by an equation developed to account for the various processes involved in the transformation and excretion of sulfisoxazole.
