Acetyl digitoxin, like digitoxin, has been shown to be excreted only slowly by rats. About 5% of the dose was present in the urine after 12 hours, and 9% in the bile after 6 hours.
The urine contained acetyl digitoxin, digitoxin, 12-hydroxy digitoxin (digoxin) and digoxin metabolite B. The bile contained acetyl digitoxin and digoxin. Metabolites of acetyl digitoxin were also detected in the blood, liver, heart and kidneys of rats.
