Duodenal motility was observed in anesthetized dogs following hypoglycemia induced by intravenous administration of insulin, carbutamide, tolbutamide or banaba. The duodenal motor response to insulin and banaba was consistent, a marked increase being observed in all animals tested. Changes in duodenal motility following intravenous injection of the arylsul-fonylureas were equivocal. A probable explanation for the difference is offered.
