Monoamine oxidase inhibitors, iprornazid and choline-p-tolyl ether, have been shown to prevent completely the ability of liver tissue to inactivate epinephrine. No evidence is found for systems insusceptible to monoamine oxidase inhibitors which might explain the inability of such agents to potentiate biological responses to epinephrine.
