A new anthelmintic compound, phthalofyne, 3-methyl-1-pentyn-3-yl acid phthalate, was found to be specific, effective, and safe against canine Trichuris vulpis in a single oral dose.
Other esters of phthalic acid (1-pentyn-3-yl acid phthalate, di-n-butyl dithyllate, di-ethyl-phthalate) as well as methylparafynol and phthalic anhydride were not found to be effective trichuricidal agents.
